Alfasi Update

A message from the Managing Director
Welcome to the Alfasi Group’s first quarterly newsletter for 2017. We’re pleased to provide you with updates on Alfasi around the world, keeping you informed of the latest news, events and developments in our business and industry. We’re committed to creating an open environment for our staff and hope this is a positive step to enhance communication across the company.

In Focus

510 Church Street, Richmond

In our largest ever property development project, 510 Church St Richmond will be at the forefront of smart buildings and a landmark in the Richmond/Cremorne area. With town planning well under way and a decision from the City of Yarra imminent, we are now focusing on securing an anchor tenant before the end of the year. Read more here.

We encourage you to download the 510ChurchStreet app from Apple or Android and see the augmented reality feature.

Alfasi Property Development Update

As well as working on our 510 Church Street development, we are also currently in due diligence on another exciting site in South Yarra for a potential hotel – we’ll keep you posted on the outcome which should be known next month.

Dubai Update

Well done to our Dubai team, who recently won our first project,  which is for the supply and installation of the secondary steel on the Al Wakrah Stadium in Doha with Sixconstruct/Besix. Designed by Zaha Hadid, the project is a proposed football stadium to be built in Al Wakrah, Qatar, in time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The value of the project for us is approximately 30m AED.

We are also currently tendering several large projects in the UAE, including a large museum in Dubai, a stadium in Abu Dhabi and a twin tower in Dubai. We’re confident that we will win at least one of these by the end of the year. As well as these projects, we are also tendering:

• Expo 2020 Pavilions in Dubai
• additional stadiums in Doha; and
• various shopping centres and high rise towers also in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Hong Kong Update

Earlier this year, we successfully completed our works on the West Kowloon Train Terminus in Hong Kong. Congratulations to the team and all the hard work that was put into it.

As of last week, we are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted as part of a JV with French construction giant VINCI for the tender on the Elevated Passenger Corridor project as part of the $8 billion upgrade of the Hong Kong airport. Tenders are due in November with expected award by the end of the year.

Alfasi Equipment Hire update

Great news for Alfasi Hire, as we have successfully renewed the Alfasi Equipment Hire OHS Certificate 2017 as well as the ISO9001 QA certification.
After a detailed capex review, we have purchased almost $5m of new equipment that will enhance our fleet, including some specialised access equipment that will be used in all the upcoming tunnel work in NSW and Vic.
We have also recently secured several major contracts in NSW including the Northconnex project which has started to hire some machines and will be ongoing for the next two years and the Mt Pleasant mine project in the Hunter Valley with G&S Engineering, where we are supplying cranes and access equipment for the next 12-18 months.
Our Queensland branch has secured equipment in a new and growing market of renewable energy and has send equipment to solar farms for UGL Kidston and Collinsville sites. We have also been successful in hiring our machines to the Amberley airbase project.
In Victoria, we have seen continued strong sales across all the industries. Keep it up team! More recently the team has secured good orders with CPB for the level rail crossing removal project.

In addition, the new Alfasi Hire website is in development as well as an App which will enable clients to order on line. In Victoria, we have secured supply of equipment to CPB at the level crossing removal projects.
